The fam over at UK’s High Focus Records are a busy lot. While performing shows - seemingly every week across England and Europe – the recent record release from Dead Players means that the same energy let loose on crowds overseas will now be hitting Australia for the ‘Freshly Skeletal’ tour, named after their record release on October 24 of the same name.
Comprised of emcees Jam Baxter, Dabbla and Ghosttown, Dead Players adopt colourful lyricism with a deep and completely booming sound behind them. The styles of all three artists ditch the traditional boom-bap noise for something quite different, and the results make for a bassy, somewhat electronic backdrop to play with.
Joining Dead Players at The Standard Bowl in Sydney on November 14 is co-headliner Edward Scissortongue (High Focus), Sydneysiders The Viking N3 (Fight Music), Sub & Creep, Undertow and one more body – our Brisbane based homie and Geedup aficionado – I AM D.
This will also be D’s first interstate gig, a week after he supports our boy Tuka (Thundamentals) at his Brisbane show. Word to hip-hop heads that will find themselves on the good side of Sydney City next week – don’t miss a weaponry line-up here.
The Standard Bowl, November 14 – come witness.
Tickets are available for purchase at www.oztix.com.au, or Geedup Parramatta Westfields, or Darlinghurst stores.
