Slug and Ant are two names that ring a bell for hip-hop fans worldwide, if they've been introduced to the veterans from Minneapolis, Minnesota, known as Atmosphere.
It's April 22, and it's been seven years since the release of one of their most critically acclaimed albums of the 21st century, and that in itself is a huge mark for a duo who initially formed in 1989.
'When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold' is an album comprising of slick beats from DJ Ant, as well as the intriguing and unique storytelling rap style of Slug. During the recording process, Slug was invited to Rick Rubins pad - the co-founder of Def Jam Records - to mix demos of the records earliest tracks.
The extensive touring of this LP in in the Spring of 2009 cemented it as one of Atmospheres best of the decade amongst international supporters and locals alike. It debuted at number 4 on the Billboard 200, and featured singles "Shoulda Known", "Guarantees" and "You".
Prodigy of Mobb Deep also released his second solo album 'H.N.I.C Pt. 2' on this day, as well as Bizzy Bone and his unveiling of 'A Song For You'.
