This Friday was all about craft beer and hearty food, when we ventured down the end of Flinders Street to our neighbours, The Local Taphouse.
Situated at 122 Flinders Street, Darlinghurst, The Local is a big destination for cats who love a wide range of brews, and it features a pretty humble menu to go along with it. Their beer range is actually so diverse, they change 4-5 drinks on the menu every week, leaving you with a whole new experience when you roll through a fortnight later. We settled for some smokey IPA, watermelon fruit beer and oaked apple and pear cider to wash the meal down.
The open air rooftop bar is an iconic spot to chill in summer as well, and also features gas heaters and an old-school fireplace to look after you in the winter months.
The food really speaks for itself. Beef burgers, buttermilk chicken and fresh salads have us seething for more, even though the portion sizing is perfect. Every flavour on the menu sheet looks that damn good, we might not be able to stay out of there from now on, since it's a quick walk from our Darlinghurst store. Drop into The Local - you're guaranteed to find something you like in a good environment. Shouts to Caroline for looking after us!
