The last 24 hours has seen a dramatic and sympathetic wave sweep through the hip-hop community worldwide, as the news of A$AP Yams death does the rounds.
The 26 year old is one of the founding members of the A$AP Mob, alongside fellow crew members A$AP Illz and Bari, and was wildly influential in bringing the Harlem born collective to major public attention. The Mob was first formed in 2007, when Yams was only 17 years old. After years of hard work, A$AP Mob is one clique at the forefront of the music and arts scene in terms of their style and forward thinking approach to each craft.
The A$AP Twitter account was the first to break the news, and after the tragic word had spread, tributes began to flow in from all corners of the globe for the young mogul. Those closest to Yams, including prominent artists, producers and other media personalities have poured out their respects via social media as they pull together for the A$AP clan.
It's documented that Yams battled with drug addiction in the past, but had checked into rehab in 2014 to help himself overcome certain problems he faced. Rumours have circulated that his death was drug related, however the official toxicology report has not been released and to speculate at such an early stage is just the wrong thing to do.
Yams life was one cut too short. The drive and direction of the A$AP squad only ever increased with his input, and will continue to do so in his absence, as they dedicate a special part of their history to this man.
